    Tutoring with Computers

    Session 2 (3:00-4:30pm)

    Come brush up on your computer skills in a tutoring session with our lovely long term tutor, Moira. These sessions are by appointment only, so make sure to contact the Nbaakaawin Kwe Education Centre if you’re interested.

    Dinner will be served at 5:00pm. Tokens will be provided. Please keep in mind that this class is filling up fast, so missing the first class or more than 3 classes throughout this twelve-week semester may mean your spot is given to someone else on the waiting list.

    Diabetes Program

    Diabetes is one of the highest percentage of illness among indigenous peoples in Canada. We
    are providing clients with the resources to help them prevent, education or maintain diabetes
    through nutrition workshops, demos, discussions and fitness exercises.

    Join us in obtaining your identification at 519 Church Community Centre! If you need a Birth Certificates, Birth Registration, Verification of Status (Record of Landing), and Ontario Health Card this clinic is for you! Tokens will be provided, and all expenses paid for obtaining your identification. Please be advised to bring a Canadian Birth Certificate and/or health card with you. If you do not have any identification, a brief application will be required, which you would have to provide full name, date of birth, place of birth, parents name, etc.

    Drop-In

    Drop-In (Personal Needs Support Program)  is accessible two days/week Tuesdays 10am-12:15pm and Thursdays 1:30pm-3:45pm on a first come first serve basis – Limited to one visit per client per week.

    Available services:

    – clothing bank
    – toiletries
    – showers Available on Thursdays
    – free laundry services (one load/week) Available on Tuesdays

     

    *Please note: Drop-In closes between 12:30 – 1:30 pm for lunch hour.

    Writing Skills Workshop

    September 10th to November 26th

    If you’re interested in learning how to write and read at a Grade 12 level in preparation for your high school diploma, GED, or post secondary, this workshop is for you. By learning the basics in grammar, essay writing, and reading, you will be more prepared to complete homework assignments in any area of study you choose.

    NWA Prep Class

    If you’re interested in taking our NWA classes starting September 10th, come learn some tips and tricks to be as prepared as possible for academic life. This prep class is meant to make you feel comfortable, calm, and collected on your learning journey, plus will provide you with a resources list and guide to gaining a greater education.

    Shopping Math Workshop

    Come learn some tips and tricks to shop better on a budget using math. We will cover basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as a means of helping you spend less and save more when shopping for groceries and other items.

The pre-employment workshop helps fix up your resume, start a cover letter, help filling out applications, and much more. This workshop will have you breezing into your employment process stress-free and worry-free. Tokens are provided.

    Drum Circle

    Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. Drumming starts at 6 p.m. and runs till 8 p.m. Open to all self-identifying women and two spirit (Indigenous and non-Indigenous). No experience needed. Tokens provided.
