    ~ Online Learning ~ Computer Lab

    Starting  January 28th, this class runs every Monday (Except Feb 18, 2019)

    The Nbaakaawin Kwe (Wisdom Woman) Education Centre is offering a new computer lab. Participants can pick from a number of online classes, including: G1 Drivers Test Prep, Money Matters, Customer Service, Mindfulness, and much more! You can work independently on your course or with tutor support.  This series welcomes Indigenous (First Nations – status or non-status, Inuit, Metis) self-identifying women who are interested in learning Anishinaabemowin.

    Liberty Moves

    Liberty Moves is a trauma-informed strength training program that takes a holistic, culture-based approach to cardiovascular and weight training. It is a program for reconnecting with our bodies and spirits in a grounded and loving way. Each session has both physical and mental/spiritual/emotional components as we move our bodies and also sit with one another to learn about and discuss our journeys back into relationships with ourselves.

    Native Women’s Academy : Shopping Math

    This class runs every Tuesday in April from 3:30pm-5:00pm (dinner served after class)

     

    Shopping Math is a 12-week course offered through Native Women’s Academy: School of Life Skills. This free school program is designed to prepare you for school, greater independence, and employment. This program welcomes Indigenous (First Nations – status or non-status, Inuit, Metis) self-identifying women who are interested in improving their everyday math skills. We will review topics like: how to read a receipt, how to calculate taxes, etc. Dinner and tokens are provided and childcare is available upon request.  There will be a graduation feast and certificates upon completion J

    Anishnaabemowin Language and Cultural Teachings a 12-week course offered through Native Women’s Academy: School of Life Skills. This free school program is designed to prepare you for school, greater independence, and employment. This program welcomes Indigenous (First Nations – status or non-status, Inuit, Metis) self-identifying women who are interested in sharing and growing their Anishinabeemowin language and cultural knowledge. Dinner and tokens are provided and childcare is available upon request.  There will be a graduation feast and certificates upon completion J

    Dinner is at 5:30 p.m. Drumming starts at 6 p.m. and runs till 8 p.m. Open to all self-identifying women and two spirit (Indigenous and non-Indigenous). No experience needed. Tokens provided.

    Native Women’s Academy : Writing Essentials

    Writing Essentials is a 12-week course offered through Native Women’s Academy: School of Life Skills. This free school program is designed to prepare you for school, greater independence, and employment. This program welcomes Indigenous (First Nations – status or non-status, Inuit, Metis) self-identifying women who are interested in improving their writing skills. We will review topics like: how to write a proper sentence, paragraph and essay.     Seeking Safety: A 12 week PTSD and substance abuse support group. This program aims to provide a safe space and to learn spiritual healing practises based on the medicine wheel, along with Indigenous teachings, and coping skills.
